Technical Assistance on Organisational Strengthening of Samata

Harewelle provided capacity building support to Samata, a large Bangladeshi NGO based in the North West of the country. Working with Samata staff, Harewelle consultants developed a comprehensive training programme to support the NGO's work in supporting social mobilisation and land rights for the landless poor. Our technical assistance included strategic planning, organisational and governance strengthening, support to the LAND network of NGOs, a participatory grassroots review and strengthening of the financial and technical support service provision.
As part of this programme of support a participatory grassroots review of membership was undertaken. This involved design of the review, execution in the field and analysis and interpretation of data leading to the development of a group self assessment review process. Innovative participatory methodologies were developed which used beneficiary self-assessment to measure the impact of Samata’s activities on their empowerment and livelihoods. (2002 - 2005)
