PMTC (Zimbabwe) (Pvt) Ltd

Harewelle International’s two African-based directors, Nick Smart (Regional Director, Southern Africa) and Duncan Rhind (Managing Director, PMTC (Zambia) Ltd, recently visited Zimbabwe to take forward the establishment of the Group’s newest in-country office.  PMTC (Zimbabwe) (Pvt) Ltd has been registered with the Government of Zimbabwe and is currently awaiting approval of its Business Plan which is a pre-requisite to being granted an investment licence and the establishment of a full-time presence in-country.  Generally in the country, the move to a multicurrency economy in 2009 has led to significant improvements with the stabilisation of prices, return of basic products to the shops and markets, availability of fuel and significant economic growth, which has not been experienced since the late nineties.

Nick and Duncan also had a series of meetings with key Government of Zimbabwe staff and members of the donor community as well as a number of associate consultants based in Harare.  What they found striking was the remarkable progress made by Zimbabwe following its recent economic difficulties and political changes.  They were also particularly impressed with the obvious talent and professionalism which exists in the country and believe that this is a solid basis on which to build, not only to help develop the country, but also to support other countries in the region.
